IMPROV COMEDY WORKSHOPS

CLASS TYPES:  IMPROV     WRITING     ELECTIVES & WORKSHOPS

Improve your play and comedic writing with a range of workshops we offer throughout the year.

“Old School Techniques” with LIZ ALLEN
Thursday, August 29th, 7pm to 10pm.  Cost: $55

Improv evolves, and that’s expected and good. Sometimes it’s helpful to go back to the origins of techniques within the art form. These techniques have fallen by the wayside over the years, or been replaced, or changed so much their beginnings are unrecognizable. These old school ways for building long-form aren’t better than today’s, they’re just a part of the journey, and it’s fun and useful to go back and highlight some of the tried-and-true techniques and theories of yesteryear.

Liz covers swinging door, breakout monologues, embedded transformations, interplay of abstract and logical, unconventional edits, and more. This is an opportunity to keep history alive and offer improvisers today more tools for approaching long-form.
