“Character workshop: An Intro to being true to your comedic voice” with Claudia Martinez
Saturday, June 13th – 12pm to 3pm. Cost: $100
Learn how to create and develop characters from your comedic voice. This workshop is an intro on character exploring that will teach you how to mine and create characters that are true to you that you can fine tune into characters you can use in improv scenes or further develop for sketch.
You’ll walk away with a sense of knowledge on the super power of being YOU which is what makes you stand out from everyone else. (This is an intro course to a more in depth and hands on 4 part series.)
Claudia is an alumni of The Second City e.t.c. Resident Stage, where wrote and performed in 4 critically acclaimed and received a Jeff nomination for best actor in a performance. You can catch her improvising with Beth Melewski in the infamous “Freak of the week: Two Dead Ass Hoes”weekly at the Home Theater.
Claudia is also currently developing a pilot series that relies on rich character creation. She believes strongly that inspiration lies in the day to day and that the most important part of creation is vulnerable and relatable.

In this 4-week workshop you will learn how to develop and sustain a two person scene anywhere from 3 to 30 minutes with recurring characters.. This workshop will culminate in a performance.
Norm Holly ‘s artistic experience includes 25 years as Artistic Director and Conservatory Head at The Second City in Chicago, where he was also a Resident Company and Touring Company Director and Harold Ramis Film School faculty member. He is part of the Columbia College Comedy Studies faculty and the former Asst.Chairman of the Columbia College Theater Dept.
